This protection, provided for free to eligible buyers, is only offered as a last resort on eligible Condition Guarantee by Seller vehicles where the seller has failed to live up to his or her obligations under the Condition Guarantee by Seller Program.

Eligibility Checklist and Claims Process

General requirements
- The vehicle must be legal and in accordance with eBay's User Agreement.
- The vehicle must have been listed in the passenger vehicles category (#6001) on eBay Motors, and not in another category, or on another Web site.
- You, the vehicle, the seller and the person or institution to whom you made payment must all have resided in the United States at the time of the transaction.
- You must have purchased your vehicle on eBay Motors, that is, it was a purchase in which you were identified as the winning bidder or fixed price buyer on a closed item. For reserve price listings, a winning bidder is the highest bidder who has met the reserve price.
- The purchase price of your vehicle plus shipping costs, if applicable, must have been over $500.
- You must have had a net eBay feedback score of zero or above at the end of the listing, and you must not have been suspended at the time of the transaction.

- For cosmetic (body and interior) problems, within 24 hours of receiving the vehicle (either by pickup or delivery)
- For mechanical problems, within 72 hours of receiving the vehicle (either by pickup or delivery)
- You must have taken all preliminary steps in the Condition Guarantee by Seller process, including:
- Trying to work out an agreement directly with the seller
- Filing for mediation and employing a mediator through SquareTrade
- Escalating the case to eBay's insurer to obtain a ruling, and providing the seller an opportunity to pay according to the ruling before this coverage goes into effect
- You must escalate the case from SquareTrade mediation to eBay's insurer for a ruling between 14 and 35 days after you receive the vehicle.
- You must agree to enter into a Feedback settlement agreement (at seller's request) upon escalation to eBay's insurer for a ruling.
Coverage
- The purpose of the Condition Guarantee by Seller Program is to provide buyers with confidence that a vehicle's condition is as stated. Thus, any problems that were disclosed in the listing are not covered.

Coverage Limits for the Condition Guarantee by Seller Program vs. Vehicle Purchase Protection

The Vehicle Purchase Protection Program provides coverage against certain instances of fraud and gross misrepresentation on all passenger vehicles sold on eBay Motors (read more about the Vehicle Purchase Protection Program).
The Condition Guarantee by Seller Program provides eligible buyers with a broader level of coverage against undisclosed vehicle damage. Vehicles sold under the Condition Guarantee by Seller Program receive the fraud (non-damage) coverage provided by the Vehicle Purchase Protection, and may qualify for the additional damage coverage provided by the Condition Guarantee by Seller Program (see coverage restrictions above).
A buyer of a Condition Guarantee by Seller Program vehicle may be eligible for damage coverage under either the Condition Guarantee by Seller Program or the Vehicle Purchase Protection Program, but a buyer is not allowed to collect on damage coverage under both programs. eBay's third party insurer will guide all claims to the appropriate program for handling. If eBay's third party insurer opts to buy the vehicle back from the buyer as allowed under the Vehicle Purchase Protection Program's guidelines, the buyer is not eligible for any damage coverage under the Condition Guarantee by Seller Program.
